LEARN TO HOOK – A Beginner Class

Go back to the basics of Rug Hooking through a hands-on approach with a beginner kit.

You will learn to draw a pattern, about foundation materials all while learning to use the tools of hook, hoop, frame, scissors, cutters. Ending with the hands-on instruction for a basic finishing technique.

The kitted pattern will teach basic skills for hooking irregular shapes, angles, curves and circles. The precut wool will cover 4, 5 and 6 cut widths, with textured wool and a variety of specially dyed wool adding to your knowledge base of wools’ difference which apply to any pattern. (Price of kit $80.00 paid directly to the teacher)

On completion of this workshop, you will have the confidence to take on new patterns or make your own.

Students will need to bring a hook, hoop or gripper frame, and a pair of sharp scissors. Written material will be sent by email before and after the workshop.

Christine Gibson shares her love of colour, designs, and composition with the Rug Hooking community.  She has received prestigious Ontario Rug Hooking awards for designs and her hand dyed wools.  She is a member of the Brockville Thousand Islanders Hooking Guild and Christine is a certified OHCG Teacher.

Designing each piece of wool from plain white to multiple colours has allowed her to reach the hues, shades and values of colour used in her work. She shares this love of wool, with anyone in need of that perfect fit of colour and texture.
