HOOKING WITH PREVIOUSLY LOVED CLOTHING

Step away from wool fabrics and yarns and use recycled, previously loved clothing to create your hooked pieces. During this class we will discuss what to look for when searching for clothing to use, how to measure the fabric, and how to hand cut the strips. Winnie will also teach tricks and tips for pulling the loops as well as how to use prints and plain coloured fabrics to create the look you are trying to achieve.
A complete supply list will be emailed to registered students. Use one of Winnie’s patterns or create your own.

Winnie Glavine’s work as a fibre artist is a contemporary extension of a deep family lineage of Newfoundland makers. Inspired by the resourcefulness of her mother and grandmothers, she utilizes sustainable and recycled fibres to transform the traditional craft of rug hooking into functional art. Her portfolio spans from home décor—such as pillows and floor mats—to wearable textiles, including jackets, hats and mittens.
She is a Juried Fibre Artist recognized by the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador
and the Provincial Department of Tourism. Through her business, Hooked Creations NL, she balances a studio practice with a dedicated teaching career.
