HOOKING WITH CURLY LOCKS

Discover how to add texture, dimension, and personality to your rug hooking projects using wool curly locks! In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn techniques for preparing and incorporating wool locks into hooked pieces to create expressive fleece and fur.
This workshop is suitable for adventurous beginners through experienced rug hookers looking to expand their creative tool kit and experiment with whimsical surface effects. Other techniques covered will include making and incorporating quillies and creating a wallpaper background.
A pdf pattern will be distributed to students prior to class so they can transfer it onto foundation cloth prior to the class. A materials list will also be distributed. Students can supply their own curly locks but they will also be offered for sale during the workshop.

Dawn Liu-Smyth is a Toronto-based fibre artist who has been rug hooking for more than 12 years. Dawn has a special interest in designing with technology and incorporating alternative fibres and techniques in rug hooking.
