Friday April 30th, 2pm – 5pm, Saturday May 1st, 9am – 4pm

Discover William Morris’ colour palette and colour plan your William Morris pattern (your choice of pattern).  Learn about three types of shading (mock, fingering and feathering) and directional hooking to complete your rug.

On Friday the focus will be colour planning, wool selections, and the basics of different types of shading.

On Saturday there will be a more in-depth shading technique lesson, background options, and, if there is time, the herringbone finishing technique.

 A supply list will be provided before the workshop along with suitable patterns and vendors.  A William Morris palette and suggested formulas will also be given.  Students are responsible for bringing their own supplies.  Student Notes will be provided by email after the class.

Susan Clarke is an OHCG and McGown certified teacher. She has won awards for her pieces at various shows.  She contributed a chapter in Rug Hooking Magazine’s “Hooked Carpetbags” publication in 2017.  Her rug hooking passions include wildlife, oriental rugs, and 3-D objects, as well as exploring different genres and colour.  Susan enjoys teaching, lecturing and writing about rug hooking.  She enjoys teaching both on Zoom and In Person.
