Jayne Nevins

Where do you teach? I teach 1 day and 5 day workshops in Canada and the United States. I will teach beginner classes in my home.
What do you teach? I teach fine cuts and wide cuts in any style and will assist with designing, dyeing, and colour planning.
Workshops Offering Beginners, crewel, oriental – any fine and wide cut subjects
What is your favourite thing to teach? No one subject matter in particular – I love them all! Whatever you’d love to know how to do, that will be my favourite thing to teach. It is so gratifying to see your students enjoy the piece that they are working on.
How far are you willing to travel to do a workshop? I am quite prepared to travel anywhere - expenses incurred can be discussed.
What do you like best about teaching? Being able to motivate the student and watch their rug hooking abilities grow. It is so rewarding to see the student finish their piece and want to get on to the next rug hooking project. I, too, learn tips from my students so it’s a win-win for everyone.
What is your favourite tip to share with your students? Do some planning up front about what you want to do, what colours you’d like to incorporate into the piece, and remember at the end of the day, it is your piece. There is lots of room for creativity in rug hooking!
