- Two-Speed Motor Design: The inducer motor operates at two speeds (high and low), allowing it to ramp up airflow according to furnace demand. This ensures more efficient venting and smoother startup behavior.
- Thermally Protected for Safety: Equipped with built-in thermal protection to prevent overheating under load, which helps avoid motor burnout and increases reliability.
- Ball Bearing Construction: Uses ball bearings for reduced friction, smoother operation, and longer life compared to cheaper plain-bearing designs.
- Functions: The 326628-763 draft inducer motor drives the fan wheel that creates a forced airflow through the furnace’s heat exchanger and exhaust vent. When the furnace calls for heat, the inducer motor starts first to remove combustion byproducts (flue gases) and establish proper venting. It ensures a negative pressure in the combustion chamber so that gas is drawn in safely and combustion is efficient. Without a working inducer, the furnace cannot safely vent exhaust, so it will refuse to ignite or will shut down for safety.
