About Us

About Us

The Ontario Hooking Craft Guild was established in 1966 to promote the art and craft of rug hooking across the communities of Ontario. We currently have a membership of over 1000 fibre artists supported by 80 certified teachers. The OHCG operates a yearly school for its members, offers workshops for Branches and publishes a quarterly newsletter, in glossy magazine format (36-40 pages). Join an international network of approximately 1,000 textile artists who share their enthusiasm and experience for the art of traditional rug hooking.

Birds of a Feather is the competition theme for the next OHCG Annual conference, running April 12-14, 2019 at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn in London, Ontario. Rug display open to the public Sunday April 14 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. $10.00 admission fee.

New guild members receive a welcome letter with information on hooking schools, events and suppliers. Our full-colour newsletter magazine, printed quarterly, keeps everyone current, especially those unable to attend our events. We can also refer new members to a representative in their area or help locate a teacher or group to hook with.
